The Putting Lab....how it came about and the story so far...
Ok so how did it all start.....short and sweet....I have a passion for putting. I have always been a good putter, or always been told, and believed, that I was a good putter. However, from time to time, it goes off...and I had no idea why.
Unlike my golf shots, when they go offline....which they do....a lot...but I generally understand why. After years of practice and lessons I understand my golf swing....but I had never understood my putting stroke.
My first experience of the SAM PuttLab technology was revolutionary. For the first time ever there was evidence of what I was doing. Ever since this day I have been into it.
I was appointed head PGA Professional at Peterculter in January of 2016. I have always been pro-active and progressive. After my first season I knocked walls down in the shop to rearrange and rejuvenate it.
After my second season I was looking for my next step....a suitable space became available and in October 2017 The Putting Lab was born.
I have focussed much of my CPD and training over the past 6 years as a PGA Professional on short game and putting. I also completed the Certified Putting Instructors course to compliment the opening of the specialised facility.
So that is how it came about......how's it going so far???
so far I have done over 50 lessons or fittings in only a matter of 3 months. Each one of them having an amazing amount of variety. I will focus on some specific sessions in future blogs but in general, I have been amazed at the different factors that cause bad putting or inconsistency in putting.
The numbers and feedback provided can push me directly to the issues in the stroke and we can begin to work on them straight away, in a simple way. Putting is a simple skill so I like to stick to the basics and make things as simple and straight forward as possible.
Now that we are into March I am anticipating a busy season ahead of Putting Lessons and Fittings. I have a full Range of PING, Scotty Cameron, Odyssey and Cleveland Putters available to try and be fitted for. I have set up an online booking facility so that it makes booking much easier and user friendly. At the minute you can only book 2 weeks in advance with limited evening and Weekend availability but as we go on this will obviously be extended.
I have also set up a variety of Gift Vouchers which ca be purchased as gifts.
